Life’s Journey

Will Thornton was born on September 7, 1953 in Houston, Texas, to Ida Lee Thornton and Elmer Thornton. He was the baby boy of seven siblings and grew up in the Third Ward area of Houston, where his family attended Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. M. L. Price's leadership.

Will graduated from Jack Yates High School in 1973. From graduation he went to work at Peabody Metal Company as a welder in Houston, Texas.

In his free time, Will enjoyed shooting pool, and playing dominos and cards. He was also an avid sports fan and cheered for the Texans and Houston Rockets.

Will was proceeded in death by his mother Ida Lee Thornton, his father Elmer Thornton: his sister Esther Thornton: his brother George Thornton: and his brother Calvin Thornton

Will's memories will be cherished by his siblings: Pauline McDonald (sister), Rose Andrews (sister), Loretta Thornton (sister), and a host of nieces, nephews, family and good friends.
