Life’s Journey
Tracy Lorea Sayles graced this Earth with her presence on August 28, 1959 in Houston, Texas. She was born to the loving and proud parents of Annie Lee Richmond Davis and Althea Sayles. Tracy grew up in the Third Ward of Houston Texas with a host of family and friends. She was a proud alum of Miller Junior High and Jack Yates High School. On December 28, 1976, Tracy united in holy matrimony with Kenneth Fosha Hudson. To this union was born one daughter, De’Adrien De’Mille. Kenneth and Tracy were married for 48 wonderful years. Their marriage was not only a testament of their unwavering love, but it served as an example of a solid marriage to all that knew them.
Tracy accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Holman Street Baptist Church in the early 80s, under the leadership of Rev. Manson Johnson. Tracy joined Lilly Grove Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Terry K. Anderson, where she served as a faithful member of the Nursery Ministry.
Tracy was employed by the Houston Independent School District for years where she retired as the school secretary of Grissom Elementary School. While working at Grissom, Tracy developed many friendships and mentored others along the way.
Tracy loved her family, and all that knew her knew it. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and cooking. Her cornbread dressing was second to none. All were welcome to her home to enjoy her cooking and great company. Everyone eventually became a part of her family. She was a “mother/ big sister/ aunt” to so many.
One of Tracy’s many hobbies included crafting. She made custom invitations, cards, shirts, door wreaths, and personal door mats. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She decorated her home and Christmas tree in grand style. Food, family and fun is what Tracy loved best. She loved to ride with her Honey down I-10 East. #IYKYK. Tracy was often found at the baseball and softball fields supporting her grandchildren Jeremiah and Jaidyn. She was for sure the Team Grandma for each team. Nobody was greater than her grandkids on the field!
Tracy quietly entered into eternity on July 22, 2024 after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was preceded in death by her father, Althea “Bud” Sayles, and mother Annie Lee Richmond Davis. She leaves to cherish her life and memories, her husband of 48 years, Kenneth Hudson; one daughter De’Adrien Hudson Brown; one son-in-love Rev. Jason Brown; one grandson Jeremiah Brooks Brown; one granddaughter Jaidyn Lorea Brown; five sisters Sherrie Jewel (Sam), Shirley Beasley, Paulette Ragan (Johnny), June Sayles, Kathy Davis; three brothers Wallace Richmond, Donald Sayles (Gloria), Kendall Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
