Life’s Journey

Richard Scott Leadon, Sr. transitioned from this earthly realm on Saturday, November 18, 2023 in Texas City, Texas, at the age of 59.  Richard was born on December 4, 1963, to Louise Williams Leadon and Swan Leadon Sr.  He grew up in Alvin, Texas and went to Alvin High School.  In May 1982, he graduated from Waltrip High School in Houston, Texas. Richard accepted Christ and was baptized at age 6 by Pastor William Chiles of the Greater New Hope Baptist Church. He later attended Greater Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert Maxey Sr.

Richard had a strong love and passion for sports. He was extremely talented in baseball.  One of his most precious moments was riding the streets of Texas City with his son- a testament to the strong bond they shared. His affection extended to his cherished truck, which held a special place in his heart. Richard was a seasoned grill master, and he enjoyed grilling delicious foods for his family and friends. Richard worked as a Security Guard up until he took ill and was unable to work anymore.

In 1991, Richard married his love, Kathy Booty-Leadon. Their union was a testament to enduring love and a shared life journey.  Kathy shared 32 years of love with Richard and was by his side until the very end.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Swan Leadon Sr., his two brothers, Bruce Leadon and Swan Leadon Jr., his aunts, Claudia Brown, Doris Fulford, Nettie Peterson (Mindy), Montrese Pouncey and Notha (Betty) Whitfield, his uncles, Lamar Leadon, Evert (Buddy) Williams, Lloyd Williams, Milton Williams and Rawleigh Williams.

Richard leaves to cherish his loving memories: his loving wife, Kathy Booty-Leadon, his loving mother, Louise Leadon, his loving daughter, Sharmeal Archie, his loving son, Richard Leadon Jr., his loving grandchildren, Torie Frederick and Taylor Frederick, his loving sister, Lene Leadon, his loving aunt, Patricia Williams, his loving brother Rev. Clark Crawford, his loving best friend Curtis Bolton, his loving God-sister, Doris West and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
