Life’s Journey

Peggie Ruth Lewis lived a life filled with grace, compassion, and unwavering strength. Her warm smile, risen cheeks and gentle spirit touched the hearts of everyone she encountered. And that voice would send you mind right into the seat of an Aretha Franklin concert. Born in San Augustine, TX on July 25, 1947, TX, Peggie was the 1st flower to bloom from the loving parents of Anner and Love Numon Dennis flower garden. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Family was the cornerstone of Peggie’s life. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, nurturing bonds that transcended time and distance whether connected in blood or friendship. Her life opened up when she met and fell in the deepest love with Husband, Henry Lewis as they wed June, 5, 1975. She remained a devoted wife and mother to her beloved children, Kevin Chenier and Devin Lenier Dennis, who meant the world to her and poured her heart and soul into nurturing them. This spilled over into her professional career as she worked at Methodist Hospital in the pediatrics department, helping to care for many of her family members and future lifelong friends taking on the role of God Mother to many!
She was also a cherished sibling, deeply treasured by her brothers and sisters, Majorie Ruth Dennis Barnett, Bevelen Ann Dennis Phillips (Michael Phillips), Johnny Elbert. Dennis, Darvin Dwayne. Dennis (Shamon Dennis), Numon Love Dennis Jr., Linda Dennis Waller, Laquither Dennis Brown, and Jonne’Dennis Clay (Willie Clay). Together, they shared a bond forged in love, music, laughter, and strengthened by the trials and triumphs of life.
She leaves behind grand-daughter, Raykeal Charnee Sallie, great grand- daughter Kelcie sallie, great grand- son’s Carter and Kaylen Williams, Husband, Henry Lewis, siblings, Numon Dennis, Linda D. Walker, Laquither D. Brown, Jonne’D. Clay (Princess), and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
Her presence will be greatly missed, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly through the lives she touched. Peggie Ruth Lewis, you will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and your light will continue to shine brightly through the love you shared with us. May your soul rest in the bosom of eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her. Until we meet again, may you find solace in the arms of God’s angels.
Let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the profound impact she had on all who knew her.

Share your condolences
