Life’s Journey

On August 30, 1931, Mary Ann Sallie was born in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana to Joseph and Lillian Goodie. Mary grew up in a Catholic family and embraced Catholicism during her early childhood. She attended St. Philip Neri Church with her daughters. Mary’s career at Memorial Hermann spanned 3 decades in the environmental services department. She enjoyed watching Good Times and Sanford and Son. She also loved talking on the phone with her loved ones.

On December 3, 2024, Mary spread her wings and flew home to her mother and father, Joseph and Lillian Goodie; siblings, Lucian Goodie, Della Powell (Jerry), Therese Ruby Goodie; daughter, Shirley Spates; son, Jack Matthew Spates; and granddaughter, Myesha Hill. Mary’s memory will continue to blossom in the hearts and lives of her children, Marie Hill (Bruce), John Spates (Noemy), Rosemary Spates, Roy “Chris” Sallie; grandchildren, Katrice Hill, Kevin Harris; great-grandchild, Brianna Groves; nephews, Steven Mays, Sr. (Bernice); nephew and godson, John “Ronnie” Goodie; niece, Lily Foster; great-nephew, Steven Mays, Jr. (Jennifer); great-nieces, Angela Mays, Kristina Mays, Juliet Foster; great-great-nephew, Benjamin Mays; great-great-niece, Abby Mays; and an array of enduring beloved family members, cousins, and friends.
