Life’s Journey
On January 5, 1959, a beautiful baby girl was born to Lawrence and Johnnie Mae Rideaux whom they named Letha Denise Rideaux. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Lily Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Willie E. Powell in Houston, TX.
Letha became a proud graduate of Jack Yates High School in 1976. She attended the University of Texas in Austin and Texas Southern University after graduation. She joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church after moving to Freeport, TX in 1992, passionately serving her community for 17 years as a substitute teacher.
She would go on to join First United Baptist Church under the guidance of Pastor David Rougeau. Letha will forever be known and remembered for her phenomenal cooking skills, and her extremely generous, vibrant, and bold spirit. In her free time, Letha enjoyed taking trips to casinos and always seemed to leave as a winner, but her most precious and heartwarming gift was becoming a grandmother. Although she will be missed dearly by her loved ones, she is at peace in God’s arms. Letha is preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Johnnie Mae Rideau; Sisters: Janice Michelle Rideaux and Lanessa Yvette Rideaux.
She leaves and cherishes two sons Lawrence Rideaux, and Malcolm Harris(Lizet); Daughter Imani Hernandez(Cruz II); Grandsons Cruz “Trae” Hernandez III and Micah “Peanut” Hernandez; Nephew Princeton Rideaux(Lacresha) and niece Janice Rideaux; Great nephew Jayden Johnson and Great niece Preslyn Rideaux; Uncle Joseph Readeaux(Geraldine); Aunts Ester Mouton, Viola Gay, and Rosemary Johnson; Godfather Frank Bates and Best Friends; Della Ogletree, Viola Parson, and Jennifer Bolton and host of other family and friends.
