Life’s Journey

Engr. Kehinde Ademolu Kuyinu was born in Lagos Nigeria in 1946 to late Georgeson Adebayo Kuyinu and Olajumoke Ore Kuyinu (Nee Thompson). Engr. Kuyinu grew up in Yaba Lagos (Railway Compound). He attended Surulere Baptist Primary School. He then attended Hussey College in Warri, Delta State. He worked briefly in Lagos and then proceeded to the United States. He received admission into Fordham University and was awarded a B.Sc. degree in Physics. He then worked briefly for the New York Public School system, he taught Mathematics in their General Educational Development Program. He then received admission into Colorado School of Mines and in 1977 he was awarded a MSc. in Petroleum Engineering. After graduation, Engr. Kuyinu joined Shell Oil Company in Louisiana (U.S.A)where he worked successfully as a Petrophysical Engineer (1977-1981). Engineer Kuyinu than relocated to Lagos Nigeria where he joined Shell Petroleum Development Corporation. He provided Petrophysical support to a special integrated Nigerian study team.

In 1983 he was transferred to SPDC-Warri as Senior Petrophysicist. In 1998 he joined the Community Development Program (SPDC -W) as the head of the newly established education section. He was charged with the responsibility to implement the company’s education initiatives for host communities. He held this position until 2005. After a successful career with SPDC Engr. Kuyinu helped to start up a U.S.A based company in Houston, Texas (Breakthrough Ventures LLC.). He was appointed Executive Vice President and worked tirelessly for Breakthrough until 2024. Engineer Kuyinu has been a member of The Society of Petroleum Engineers as well as the Society of Professional Well Log. Analyst for almost 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Veronica Kuyinu (Nee Eaton) and two daughters, Pastor Dr. Eniabitobi Kuyinu and Miss. Ore Kuyinu, three grandchildren, Seyi Kuyinu, Adeniyi Kuyinu-Perry, and Adetoyin Kuyinu-Perry. With the exception of four of his siblings, late Mr. Abayomi Kuyinu, late Mrs. Arinola Adetola-Kayode, late Dr. Taiwo Adeniyi Kuyinu and late Mr. Bernard Kuyinu, Engr. Kuyinu is survived by his sister Mrs. Ibiyemi Ivaldi and nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and other relatives.
