Life’s Journey

Hallie Marie Godsey, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was born on October 19, 1942, in Hungerford, Texas, to Easter Marie McDade and Lee McDade. She peacefully departed this life on December 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication.

Hallie accepted Christ at an early age, which became the foundation of her life and values. She was a proud member of Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church. Hallie attended Hungerford High School, and graduated in 1961. After graduating, she attended Prairie View A&M University, and Texas Southern University.

On April 11, 1964, she married the love of her life, Cornell Godsey of Egypt, Texas. Together, they built a life filled with devotion to family and community.

Hallie was a dedicated worker whose career spanned many years and touched countless lives. She worked at T.I.(Texas Instruments), Second Baptist Church, Foley’s, Walmart, and Frost Elementary School (HISD), where she devoted 26 years to nurturing young minds before retiring. Her impact extended far beyond the workplace as she became a cherished mentor and inspiration to those around her.

A woman of unwavering love, Hallie leaves to cherish her memory her Husband of 60 years, Cornell and their three daughters: Regina (Gary), Jannell, and Allison. She was a proud and doting grandmother to five grandchildren: Chelsea (Corlon), Desiree’, Gary (Andrea), Felise’, and Connor. She was blessed to love on her great-grandchildren Tyce, Callie, and Piper. She is also survived by her three sisters: Edna (Joe), Rosetta aka Duts, and Billie. She leaves behind to cherish her memories her extended children and grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Hallie was preceded in death by her parents, Easter and Lee McDade; her brothers, Russell Earl McDade and Alvin Shelton; her sisters, Doris Ann Roberts aka Tappy and Lizzie Byers; and her goddaughter, Tracey Bradley.

Hallie lived a life full of grace, compassion, and dedication to others. She was a woman of faith who found joy in serving her community, nurturing relationships, and creating a home filled with love. She will be remembered as a source of strength, wisdom, and encouragement for all who had the honor of knowing her.

Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but her legacy of kindness and love will continue to inspire those she touched. Hallie will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
