Life’s Journey

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith: Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

On October 4, 2023, Carl Michael Bluford peacefully surrendered his earthly life in accordance with God’s divine plan.  Born November 23, 1958, in Kingsville, Texas to his parents; the late Wallace Carl Bluford and Beverly Jean Caraway Bluford Leflore.  He was the oldest of four boys.

Affectionately called “Mike”, “Michael”, “Blu”, and “Bluford”, he graduated from Henrietta M. King High School in Kingsville, TX.  In high school, Michael excelled in sports and was a star athlete.   Friends say he could play baseball in his sleep.  Blu was a proud Pittsburg Steelers fan; he bled The Black and Gold!  “Here We Go Steelers” were his words for the weekend.  You would know where he was during a Steelers game, either at the game or in front of the TV.

Michael worked as a conductor for Missouri Pacific/Union Pacific Railroad for many years.  His coworkers say that he was a joy to work with and a great worker.

Mike loved being around family and friends entertaining and cooking.  His home was the place to gather for good times that included good food, games, and music. Blu’s favorite food requests of his mother were a German Chocolate cake and fried seafood.  You could count on him celebrating his birthday with a party in November. Bluford would always be dressed and well put together; he always drove the latest model cars and they would always-always be clean!

He was a proud father and grandfather to Quinette & Jordyn.  He loved his girls and was happiest when he made them smile.

Carl Michael was preceded in death by his father Wallace Carl.

His memories will forever be cherished by his mother Beverly Jean LeFlore, his daughter Quinette Lashun Bluford, his granddaughter Jordyn Michelle Bluford, three brothers Terence O’Keath Bluford (Gloria), Roy Anthony Bluford (Joyce), Ronald Dawayne Bluford (Lysa) and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
