Life’s Journey
Alice Luvorn Robertson, affectionately known as “Momma Alice,” passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025. Born on June 15, 1945, to Lou Grate and Forest Robertson, Alice grew up in a loving home where her bright spirit and compassionate nature were evident from an early age.
A proud graduate of Wilson White High School, Alice made her mark as a radiant and graceful young woman, earning the title of Miss Wilson White in 1965. Her elegance and charm were admired by all who knew her.
Alice later pursued a career in radiology at Memorial Hermann Hospital, where her dedication and professionalism left an indelible impact on both her colleagues and the countless patients she cared for over the years. Her work exemplified her commitment to helping others, a value she carried throughout her life.
Alice was blessed to share her life with two loving husbands. Her first marriage to Herman Jones, Sr., brought three beautiful children: Herman Jr. (deceased), Nicole, and Andre’. She found love again with Deacon Charles Woods, who preceded her in death.
A beacon of strength, grace, and unwavering love, Alice devoted her life to her family and faith. She was a pillar of her community, a source of comfort and wisdom for friends and family alike. Known for her warm smile and kind heart, she lovingly earned the title “Momma Alice” from those whose lives she touched.
Alice’s legacy lives on through her children, Nicole and Andre’ and her bonus daughter, Jessica, and all those fortunate enough to have been part of her journey. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and the beauty of a well-lived life.
Alice leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Alice is preceded in death by her son, Herman Jones, Jr., two sisters, Vertie McCoy and Bertha Williams, brother, Roy Robertson, and grandson Herman Jones III and her first husband, Herman Jones, Sr.
A celebration of Alice’s life will be held at Annie’s Cottages today at (add time) to honor her remarkable journey and the joy she brought to so many. Rest peacefully, Momma Alice, in the loving arms of those who have gone before you.
